Shannon started racing motorcycles in the mid 70’s racing both Flat track and Motorcross events. In 1981 he earned a factory support ride with Yamaha for 2 years racing national Motorcross events In the mid 80’s he switched gears to 4 wheels and raced an early Ford Bronco in Off Road events and Timed Hill Climb road races. He also raced a ’75 Corvette in some local Autocross and Hill Climb Road Race events.
More recently, Shannon has been racing a 911 Porsche with the local Nordstern PCA Club since 2005 and racing this car in both Sprint & Endurance Races all over the country in other PCA events at such great tracks as Sebring FL, Daytona FL, Summit Point WV, Mid-Ohio, OH, Gingerman MI, Road America WI, Mid America IA, Portland OR, Miller Park UT and several other national tracks.
Shannon still holds 2 National Track Records in class with the PCA club. His newest venture besides Porsche racing is Vintage Racing with a 1967 Camaro SS. In 2012, this newly built car ran at Road America and Brainerd. For 2013, the HAWK Camaro will be raced at Mid-Ohio, Road America, Watkins Glen and hopefully at the new track down in Austin TX COTA for the National SVRA Vintage Racing Championships. Shannon is a current member of PCA, SVRA, SCCA, VSCDA, VSCR and holds a current full racing license with both PCA and SVRA.
